Adriana Hartley – Austerity Measures
Adriana Hartley – Austerity Measures

Having completed my studies of History of Art at the University of Geneva in 1999, I joined the Haute Ecole d’art Appliqué in Geneva to study for a diploma in Ceramics and Design, which I obtained in 2005. Since then I have been creating and exhibiting my original ceramics work internationally, as well as writing articles on contemporary ceramics.
Project: In this era of financial upheaval, our thoughts turn to the importance of recycling and avoiding waste, as well as the creation of durable value instead of short-term profit. In this work I have recycled rejected and damaged industrial tableware by incorporating it into new, unique pieces. This transformation also constitutes a change in purpose: from essentially functional to purely decorative.
