Papercut & Knife Calligraphy

Annette Jacobs is a designer, illustrator and typographer based in Düsseldorf/DE. She was born in 1984, studied graphic design & illustration at the College of Visual Arts (Saint Paul/USA) and the University of Applied Sciences and Arts (Hildesheim/DE). After gaining experiences at the advertising agencies BBDO and Ogilvy, Annette was trained and worked for the design studio nowakteufelknyrim. There she discovered the pleasure of designing with knives, which she first applied to the new corporate design of the restaurant "Bertels".
Currently she is working as a designer at Hesse Design. In her work, she combines illustration and design – mixing the analog with the digital. Conceptual design with a playful approach and a strong attention to detail is how you can describe her work.
The Workshop: In a 3-day open session, attendees can get into designing with knives. Inspired by her project "Bertels", Annette will give a workshop for knife calligraphy & papercut. In collaboration with the attendees, a big aquarium of papercut fish will be created, as the fish is one of the most popular subjects in papercut craft.
Additionally, Annette will give an introduction to knife calligraphy and show how to make beautiful letterforms with a knife. The workshop will be open from Friday, 1st June to Sunday, 3rd June. No need for pre-registration. Paper, ink and knives will be provided.
