“Meisterstücke”
The German „Walz“, the journeyman years, is more actual than ever. Refering to the tradition of setting out on travel after completing apprenticeship as a craftsman, this late october craftsmen and designers will show up at Direktorenaus in Berlin.

Handmade in Germany
The upcoming exhibition at Direktorenhaus is showing the latest products from 30 master craftsmen, innovative manufacturers and experimental designers. The show is a condensed collection of current German furniture, interiors, music instruments, tableware, and other products that showcases and explores the country’s uniquely qualitative design aesthetic. After the production excesses of the last millennium, there is now a distinct demand for limited, high qualitative and unique products — something in which the Germans have specialized for hundreds of years.
The exhibition at Direktorenhaus in the heart of Berlin wants to represent a selection of German designers and manufactories, from highly specialized craftsmen through to manufactories that have gradually grown into larger actors with a global visibility. All in common is a specific dedication to craftsmanship, quality and attention to detail give their products the qualitative edge.
With the exhibited objects and limited editions curators Pascal Johanssen and Katja Kleiss examines this distinctive talent of designers and manufactories for combining the rational and traditional with the cutting-edge in a way that seems effortless and even playful.

WINES

The estate is located in the town of Fellbach (range Renstal-Stuttgart) in the German region Württemberg . The family has a 500-year-old winemaking tradition. Rainer Schnaitmann produced under his own label in 1997 as the first crop.
The vineyard area totals around 12 hectares of vines in the individual layers Lämmler and Goldberg (Fellbach), Götzenberg (Uhlbach), and in the communities Endersbach, Schnait, Stetten, Strümpfelbach and Untertürkheim. They are the red varieties Trollinger, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, Lemberger, Dornfelder, Samtrot, Early Burgundy, nutmeg Trollinger, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Syrah, as well as the white varieties Riesling, Sylvaner, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, planted Gewurztraminer, Rivaner and Sauvignon Blanc. Quality criteria in the vineyard are as close planting distances, low yields, canopy design and minimal use of pesticides and fertilizers. After a selective reading optimally ripe grapes in several passes and gentle pressing is the fermentation of white wines in stainless steel and to a lesser extent also in oak.
When Riesling is increasingly relying on its own yeast flora. After Hefelagerzeiten 3-12 months, the wine is bottled. After traditional maceration with a long lifetime and ripe red wines malolactic fermentation of two-star and three star class 8 to 10 months, the "Simon Roth wines" 12 to 18 months in oak barrels, usually with 300 liters volume. The wine is bottled without filtration if possible. Brandies are also produced (yeast, pulp, fruit) and flaschenvergorene sect. The winery is a member of the VDP (Association of German VDP).

Schloss Schönborn Domänenweingut, Hattenheim in the Rheingau valley Schloss Schönborn – famous wines with a long tradition. Located in the heart of the Rheingau valley, the Domänenweingut Schloss Schönborn has long stood for premium wine culture.
Many of the vineyards along the slopes bordering the Rhine river have been part of the Schönborn family estate since 1349, which has been added to continuously since then. Several top sites were acquired in the 17th and 18th centuries, giving the estate a real boost. The estate now covers 50 ha, of which 90% are planted with Riesling. The remaining vineyards feature Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc. The Schloss Schönborn wine estate is one of the founder members of the Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates (VDP) and has for many years been managing its valuable vineyards in tune with nature.

In 2003 Jürgen von der Mark (by the way Germany’s first Master of Wine) took over a vineyard of 35-year-old pinot noir vines. In the following years some more old vineyards followed and today he is working on 1 hectare of old vines. “Small but beautiful” is his philosophy: fascinated by idols from burgundy he is aspiring to create elegant and well-balanced wines. He is concentrating mainly on meticulous care for his vines. Vinification in his cellar is simply minimum interference. After maturing in oak barriques the wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered.
