MARCO LOMBARDINI
7.5. - 13.5.2013

Educated at the Accademia delle Belle Arti in Bologna, Marco Lombardini started to work as a freelance illustrator in Bellaria, Italy. In 2006 and 2007 he won two awards at the italian Annual Illustratori and collaborates with important companies like Volo children`s fashion design.
Marco`s working techniques include oil paintings, acrylic, pastels and computer generated art.
The exposition shows those works which the artist realised during two trips he made in Morocco and Japan.
The idea was to catch and draw on the paper fast and instantaneous emotions, which would habe been used later to inspire more elaborated projects. In spite of these plan this series of works started to assume an autonomous value. They seem in particular to explore the nonphysical relation between colors and feelings, evocating the huge range of possibilities they can produce. Landscapes and scenes find in this exposition peacefull atmospheres, dimensions without time that exist far away from habits and monotony life can be made of.

07.5. - 13.5.2013

Laurent Pellissier was born in the italian region of the Alps in 1981. He lives and works between Berlin and Paris.
After graduating in architecture, history and restoration and receiving a diploma in clarinet, he started to work in the sector of set and costume design.
During this period he developed a real obsession of collecting things. The objective is to save them from the oblivion and make them become active part of stories.
As an artist, Laurent likes to think about explosions as agents of transformation. Ordinary homes disappear progressively in evocative and purifying fires, then comes the beauty. There is no end and no begin, just evolution.

MARTINA MERLINI
16.4. - 06.5.2013

Martina Merlini is a visual artist currently living and working in Milan, Italy.
Her artistic world moves from nature to geometric universes. Her favourite characters in pencil peaces are birds and wild african animals, nervous and dark signs which gain armony and nitidity in Martina`s geometric works.
The artist is costantly researching balance between her figurative origins as illustrator and her minimalistic abstractions, from the coldness of the streets and the delicate beauty of mural paintings. This constant fight for balance is what keeps her work alive. From paper to walls, from installations to collages.

Juliana Wang
9.4. - 15.4.2013

Working with ink, wash, paint and graphite, Juliana Wang enjoys drawing layers and piecing them together in a final digital format.
She creates jarring compositions, by collaging unlikely elements together to create surreal scenes in her work, whether that be figureheads peeping out of rocks,
to resilient character's gorging away, nestled in beards and stomachs, or floating within a forest.
She is drawn to creating exciting marks in her work that reflect a lively energy, and likes mixing flat bold shapes from a digital hand with more unexpected marks made by ink and wash.

Magdalena Wolan
Magdalena Wolan
9.4. - 15.4.2013

Magdalena Wolan is a 27 years old illustrator living and working in Krakow, Poland. Thanks to her mother she started to develop her creativity as a child and since that moment simply did not stop anymore to express her artistic attitudes.
Magdalena gives illustration classes at the Art Department of the Pedagogical University of Krakow, loves working with students and cooperates with different Magazines and Publishing Companies.
She often pays attention to the concept of beauty and its relativity. Taking inspiration from those images which many people find ugly and sometimes even hideous,
her objective ist to show how everything can become beautiful and fascinating within the change of points of view. That is how the idea of making a series about Pretty Uglies drawings was formulated by the artist.
Her drawings also have the function of a diary, i.e. the purpose to tell people what makes Magdalena happy or sad during these years of her life. They even talk about secrets, those which all of her characters try to hide and the observer is called to find out. In this context, eyes and faces always assume new fascinating meanings.

Design is not what it used to be. The time when art and design was still about ink on your fingers and individual skills seems to be far behind us. Current techniques have made these professions more transparent and accessible. This means that a lack of professional knowledge is no longer a problem; a lack of good ideas however, is.

4.6 - 30.8.11

Daniel Becker will present two ideas for shelving systems, which originated in a close aesthetic relationship to his latest lighting designs.
Becker attempts to design sustainable pieces, that means in the first instance durable products with long life-cycles. For him, durability means not only flawless functioning but especially an
emotional durability, which is most difficult to create. Respected pieces though are those which will be preserved by the user. If every product had the ability to outlast for more than one generation, this would already have a huge impact on the contemporary consumer society, which is the most desirable goal, he says.

4.6 - 30.8.11

What is a teapot when you no longer know what a teapot is? How does a person suffering from dementia experience his or her surroundings? In Jetske Visser's project Forgotten Memory the viewer is submerged in the world of dementia. By doing research and examining literature on the subject, and by spending time with
elderly people suffering from the condition, Visser has created an image of their hazy, fragile and precarious existence. As a metaphor for the condition she has transformed a series of everyday objects and taken pictures of people with dementia. The film demonstrates that things are not always what you would expect.
Alessandro Grassi
Alessandro Grassi
4.6 - 30.8.11

The artistic process as such is always the focus of Grassi’s works. They are presenting the contact point between the unconscious and the consciousness, the way from an idea to a perceptible object. The works can be considered the accomplishment of a thought within a process, like blurred snapshots. In this spirit, also the used materials are extracted from a process, remains of our production cycle being familiar to us: basically wood and metal scrap. But it’s a fallacy to think that Grassi’s artistic concept is about recycling. It’s rather
a matter of assigning and preserving feelings by the means of materials already having a history.
Following this idea, also Felsen has to be understood as a work in progress constantly being extended. The fictive climbing wall can and must not be climbed, but one can imagine the degree of difficulty. The same for the artist himself: He didn’t have to climb the wall, but doing the same efforts to realize the idea. The material wood reminds us of the first thing children use to climb: trees.

Chess boards and figures are a very classical thing. With lots of adornment around the figures and a somewhat 19th century appearance according to the world standard – the “New Staunton” chess board…
But the rules of the world chess federation, FIDE, are only an outline denominating the size relationship of the pieces and the dimensions of the (tournament) board.
So, Alexander Pelikan, designer based in Eindhoven, went one step further. The board and all the pieces from his project J'adoube are made of Naturalia, an HPL material by ARPA Industriale. The pieces and the board have been designed to capture the essence of the individual chess piece and to simplify the production process (CNC milling). The case is made of bonded leather, a sustainable material using left over leather fibers and natural latex.

Acupuncoons

United in their long tradition in crafts, glass and iron still could hardly oppose one another more. One exemplifies fragility and transparence; the other metallic strength. Swedish artist Jan Lambert Kruse playfully uses these oppositions to create his fantastic glass objects.
Jan liquifies glass languidly leaking out of pipes and hanging off cage like structures. This current exhibition follows the “Milky Way” exhibition, he confesses that his new work the acupuncoons were inspired by an acupuncture session.

On Line Depping's work: „In everyday life we always try to follow certain norms, have tidy homes for example, but often we feel a hint of bad conscience because we are not perfect as people.
So why this quest for the impossible? My table allows our irrational chaotic lives to rule and by that showing that life can be perfect in its imperfection.“

therefore loose presence and importance. Drawings are of analogue structure which makes them available to any combination and opens access to any element. Drawn image-worlds are timeless and available at any time."
