A Machine’s Perception
A scanner is only a human, in other words: machines are not that perfect as we see them. With the project ‘A Machines Perception’ a want to go to the fringes of automated reproduction .
A 3D scan is seemingly accurate but indeed it is very much subject to
coincidence (we only think these processes are perfect) if you go to the technological frontiers the true nature or the essence of scanning are revealed.

NATALIE MIEBACH - WEATHER SCORES
NATALIE MIEBACH - WEATHER SCORES
Fall/winter 2012

Visualizing and musically interpreting weather data through musical scores and sculpture offer alternative ways in understanding complex systems (i.e. weather), which are conventionally presented to viewers solely through the lens of science. Nathalie Miebach translates scientific data related to weather, ecology, and oceanography into three-dimensional structures and musical scores. Her main method of translation is principally that of basket weaving, which functions as a simple grid through which to interpret data in three-dimensional space.
“Weather Scores” explores the interaction of weather systems, marine ecosystems and New England fishing lore through a unique collaborative compositional process involving weather data, woven sculptures, graphic/indeterminate musical scores, and musical performance.
