Habach Kloess is metal design studio in Hildesheim, Germany. The founders, Sophie Kloess and Jan Hebach use the reductionist approach in their work and put strong emphasis on the later practical use of the objects.
After years of training as goldsmith Sophie Kloess decided to expand her artistic horizon with the studies of Metal Design and graduated from HAWK Hildesheim in 2007. Since then she manufactures silver vases and other metal units, which emerge from the combination of artistic thinking, design concepts and everyday functionality.Metal was always favorite working material for Jan Hebach, who joined the workshop studio in Hannover while still going to school. During the studies of Metal Design at the HAWK he decided to shift the focus of his creativity from free to applied arts and graduated from the University with the Designer-Diploma.Hebach drafts and manufactures the dining utensils from steel and silver and had made himself a name with his kitchen knife series. His works are presented in public collections and various exhibitions and his new cutlery design was awarded with Pott:Senior-Award in 2017. The works of Sophie Kloess in collaboration with Hebach were honored through the Hessian state prize in 2013.
