Papierwerk Glockenbach is a studio located in Glockenbach quarter in Munich. There Raphael Grotthuss and Annamaria Leiste convert their ideas into paper.
The goal of the studio is to set challenging goals and to shift the borders of the diversity and quality of their product with each collection. The paper, that they manufacture, can indeed be called “unusual” as the designers themselves do. Colors, structures, materials appear in unusual combinations. Annamaria also experiments with fibers to produce not only paper but also objects. “Searching for the limits of the paper and not finding it” is how Raphael describes his work. Grotthuss studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, Leiste is a graduate of Design school in New York and has also studied at the AfA, but a different discipline - jewellery. Therefore the approaches of the two collaborating artists differ according to their backgrounds.
