Background
Modern poster design – an hommage to the supreme discipline of the graphic design. The ambitious poster art project »Anschlag Berlin – Zeitgeistmedium Plakat« will be exhibited at the Direktorenhaus.
The exhibition provides an overview of outstanding contemporary posters by designers working in Berlin. Following the zeitgeist in design and the Berlin design scene in particular, 100 posters by newcomers as well as renowned design studios such as Cyan, LSD, HeSign, EPS51, Eike König, Ruddigkeit, Ariane Spanier, Onlab, m23, Surface and many others will be on display.
With this exhibition, the curators Fons Hickmann and Sven-Lindhorst Emme, both renowned poster designers, intend to bring forward the wide spectrum of artistic work made in Berlin. The selection consists of works that cross the imaginary border between art and design. The exhibition was a huge success earlier this year at the Weltformat-Festival in Luzern and will be held in China next year.

Posters are the perfect medium to communicate the Zeitgeist.’’ One can speak of a ‘Berlin School’ in poster design, that has been shaping the aesthetics of visual culture for the past 100 years – and that influences popular culture, design and art. The poster established itself as an independent art medium.
