At first, Sonja Danowski´s works seem nostalgic, as if they derived from personal memories fading over time. They show common, almost trivial situations and objects but also loving gestures of affection even in the bleakest of surroundings. Her water-coloured pencil drawings appear in magazines and illustrate multi award-winning storybooks for children and adults. Sonja also writes her own stories.
In 2013 and 2015, she was awarded the renowned Golden Island Award by the Nami Island International Picture Book Illustration Concours for her illustrations in ´Spring Lane No. 4´ and ´Oma trinkt im Himmel Tee´. Sonja Danowski lives and works in Berlin.
